Euro Cup 2024

Romania's journey in the UEFA European Championships spans five appearances from 1984 to 2016, with an eagerly anticipated sixth participation in 2024. Their standout moment came in Euro 2000 when they reached the quarter-finals, only to face elimination by eventual tournament runners-up Italy.

The pinnacle of Romania's European Championship history occurred in 2000, navigating through a challenging group with Germany, Portugal, and England to secure a spot in the quarter-finals. Their previous notable performances include reaching the last eight in 1960, 1972, and 1984, showcasing consistent qualification across six tournaments.

Reflecting on UEFA Euro 1984, Group 2 emerged as one of the two groups in the initial stage of the final tournament. Taking place from June 14 to June 20, the group featured West Germany, Spain, Portugal, and Romania in competitive clashes.

Shifting to UEFA Euro 2024 qualifying, Group I played a pivotal role in determining the final tournament's contenders. Comprising Andorra, Belarus, Israel, Kosovo, Romania, and Switzerland, the group engaged in home-and-away round-robin matches. Romania and Switzerland emerged as the top two teams, securing direct qualification for the final tournament in Germany. This achievement adds another chapter to Romania's storied European Championship history.
