The Daren Sammy Cricket Ground, previously the Beausejour Cricket Ground, is a cricket ground located near Gros Islet, Saint Lucia standard seating capacity of 15,000. It was completed in 2002 and currently accommodates 13,000 spectators. The stadium was completed in 2002 and hosts domestic matches. It staged its first international Test match in 2003 against Sri Lanka and became the first venue in the Caribbean to host a day-night game.
The Sri Lanka T20 World Cup team, nicknamed the "Lions", represents Sri Lanka in international men's cricket. It was a full member of the International Cricket Council with Test, One-Day International and T20 World Cup status until it was suspended for 11 days by the ICC on 10 November 2023. The disqualification was lifted on November 21, 2023. The team first played international cricket in 1926–27 and became associate members of the ICC in 1965. They were given Test status in 1981, making Sri Lanka the eighth nation to play Test cricket. The team is managed by Sri Lanka Cricket.
The T20 World Cup 2024 will be the ninth ICC Men's T20 World Cup. It will take place in the United States and the West Indies from June to July 2024. This will be the first ICC tournament to be held in America.
